Daywise Itinerary

JOENPA-LEKSO(welcome) to Bhutan. We are pleased to present your detailed tour itinerary for the Kingdom of Bhutan. This praogram has been carefully designed to provide you with a comprehensive and enriching experience of Bhutan's unique cultural heritage, natural beauty, and spritual traditions. From visit to historic monasteries and Dzongs to scenic excursions across valleys and mountain passes, each element of the journey has been selected to offer both insight and inspiration. After a warm reception, you will be driven to Thimphu on a scenic one-hour journey, followed by a guided sightseeing tour covering the city's key attraction. We trust that this itinerary will serve as a valuable guide throughout your time in Bhutan.

Sightseeing;

Tachogang Lhakhang- Temple founded by Tibetan saint Thang Thong Gyalpo in 15th century and the temple is also known for its unique iron bridge .
Chuzom- Confluence of river which is on the way towards Thimphu.

Sightseeing;

Buddha Point- One of the largest sitting buddha in the world,it is the perfect place to enjoy stunning, panoramic view of the city.
Simply Bhutan- This is an integrative living museum that gives a quick introduction to various aspects of tradition life in Bhutan.
Royal Takin preserve park- House the rare natioanl animal of Bhutan. Takin is listed by international conservation agencies as a vulnerable species, and it is a rare animal founded only in Bhutan, Nepal and Burma.
Jungshi handmade paper factory- the paper factory produces traditional paper known as Deh-Sho. They use the Daphne to manufacture the handmade paper.
Weekend Market- A vibrant and bustling marketplace where locals and tourist alike can find a wide array of fish produce, local craft, fruits and vegetables. 
Tashichho Dzong- The "fortress of the glorious religion" was initially erected in 1641 and rebuilt by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in 1960s. Tashichho Dzong houses some ministries, His Majesty's secretariat, and the central monk body.

After drive to Phobjikha- an approximately 5-hour drive through picturesque valleys and mountain slopes dotted with typical Bhutanese villages. from the Dochula pass, at over 10,000ft, vast panoramic views of the high snowcapped peaks of the Bhutanese Himalaya can be enjoyed on a clear day.

Sightseeing;

  1. Gangtey nature trail- it is a beautiful and relatively easy 4km hike in Bhutan's Phobjikha valley offering stunning views and a chance to experience the region's natural and cultural beauty.

Sightseeing;

  1. Gangtey sanga Choeling Gonpa- is a major attraction with an old monastery dated back to the 16th century.
  2. Black necked Crane center- it serves as an essential center for conservation and education regarding the threatened, black necked crane. in the middle, you can also catch a glimpse of the Black necked crane.

Drive early in the morning to Bumthang which is around 5 hours drive.

Sightseeing;

  1. Wangduechhoeling Palace (Museum and Cultural Center)- built in 1857 by legendary Bhutanese warrior Jigme Namgyal and a birthplace of First king, Ugyen Wangchuck and served as seat of national power in the early 20th century.
  2.  Jambay Lhakhang-  Is a sacred monastery built in the 7th century by the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. It is one of the 108 monasteries built by him to subdue evil spirits in the Himalayan region.

Sightseeing;

  1.  Jakar Dzong- ‘fortress of white bird’ is situated on the ridge of jakar village and the Dzong played a pivotal role as a defense for the whole eastern district, and it was also the seat of the first king of Bhutan. 
  2.  Kurjey Temple- The temple to the right was built by Minjur Tempa in 1652. It was built around the cave in which Guru Rinpoche meditated and left his body imprint.
  3.    Kencho sum Lhakhang- It is a significant Buddhist temple in Bumthang, Bhutan, dating back to 8th century and it is renowned for rich history, intricate murals, and sacred relics.
  4.     Tamzhing Monastery- This temple is also known as Tamshing Lhendrup Chholing (Temple of the Good Message).
  5.    Mebar Tsho/Burning Lake- It is a holy site, revered as the place where Tertoen Pema Lingpa, Bhutan’s greatest Tertoen (treasure revealer) discovered several Guru Rinpoche’s Terma (the hidden treasure) in 15th century.

After breakfast drive to Punakha for Five and half hour.

Sightseeing;

  1. Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple)- This was founded in the 15 Century by Lama Dukpa Kinley also known as the divine madman. It is a half-hour walk across a local village and rice field.
  2.   Punakha Dzong – One of the breathtaking and picturesque strongholds constructed in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in fulfillment of Guru Rinpoche’s prophecy.

 Sightseeing;

  1.  Kham sum yulley Namgyel- hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten that has great views of Punakha Valley. This beautiful monument was built under the royal patronage of Her Majesty Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck, The Mother of the 5th King.
  2.    Longest Suspension Bridge- Longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, spanning approximately 160-180 meters (520-590 feet).

After breakfast drive to Paro which is about 4 hours’ drive.
Sightseeing:
•    Taa Dzong (National Museum)- the Former Watch Tower which now houses the National Museum.
•    Rinpung Dzong -  This houses the monastic school and the office of the civil administration and walks down passing close by crossing the Bhutanese typical wooden roofed bridge to Paro town.

Paro Taktsang- Popularly known as the Tiger’s Nest, Taktshang is a revered temple and monastery built in 1692. The sacred structure sits at 3,120m (10,240ft) above sea level, perched on the edge of a cliff in the upper Paro Valley. Shrouded in folklore and myth, the monastery consists of four temples adorned with Buddhas, cotton tapestries and frescos of enlightened beings. The holiest site in Bhutan, this ‘tigers lair’ pays homage to Guru Padmasambhava, the initiator of Buddhism in Bhutan. In the late 17th century, the monastery was constructed around the cave by Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye, who was believed to be the reincarnation of the Guru.
